We’re excited to share a pivotal update in UrbanPiper’s leadership. Anirban Majumdar, co-founder of UrbanPiper, will join Saurabh Gupta as Co-CEO. This decision formalizes a partnership that has driven our growth for over a decade and reflects their shared vision for the company’s future.
UrbanPiper’s journey has been one of relentless growth and innovation. Over the years, we’ve expanded from a small, passionate team in India to a global organization spanning over 30 countries. Every step of this journey has been shaped by our shared mission: to empower restaurateurs with solutions that simplify their operations and unlock growth.
Anirban has been with UrbanPiper since the very beginning, not just as my co-founder but as the architect of our product vision. Over the years, he has taken on multiple roles—CTO, CPO, COO—bringing a deep product and tech background with an unparalleled eye for detail. His customer-centric approach and unmatched product expertise have been instrumental in building the technological foundation that empowers restaurants worldwide.
As we grow into a fast-moving, multi-product, multi-geography company, this transition to a dual leadership model will allow us to scale sustainably and efficiently, conquering the complexities of the next phase of growth. Anirban will lead our product innovation and core operations, ensuring we remain a tight-ship organization with a high-performing team and a founder-driven mindset across all levels.
As Co-CEO, Anirban will lead our product innovation and core operations, focusing on creating solutions that not only solve today’s challenges but anticipate tomorrow’s opportunities. I couldn’t be more excited to have him as my partner in this next chapter of UrbanPiper’s journey.
Saurabh and I have been partners for an incredible 10 years. Reflecting on this journey, I’m filled with pride and gratitude—not just for how far UrbanPiper has come, growing from a scrappy team of 4 to a thriving organisation of 200+ passionate missionaries across 8 countries, but also for how much we’ve evolved as individuals and as leaders.
Navigating the uncertainties of building something from scratch, we often found ourselves ill-equipped for the challenges ahead. Yet, what we lacked in immediate clarity, we made up for with unrelenting grit and determination to solve meaningful problems for our customers—the restaurateurs who placed their trust in us.
Our shared love for food kept us closely connected to our customers and their customers, allowing us to deeply understand the industry’s challenges and opportunities. Discovering how we could automate operational overheads for restaurants became a driving force, inspiring us every day. Over the years, we’ve reinvented ourselves repeatedly: starting as a platform for direct online ordering, evolving to automate workflows for every online commerce channel, and expanding further to address in-store needs.
Through all these transformations, I’ve had the privilege of being both a cheerleader and a hands-on contributor, witnessing the impact of our work from a front-row seat. As I now step into the role of co-CEO, I’m super-excited than ever to empower the core functions of UrbanPiper—revenue and financial operations, customer service, and people—ensuring they continue to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our team members and our customers.
The journey so far has been nothing short of extraordinary, and I can’t wait to see what the next chapter holds for all of us at UrbanPiper!
